ELI

Overview: What is the Energy Leadership Index® 360 Assessment?

We all see the world through our own unique lens, and this lens shapes how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. It influences how we react to situations, how we interact with others, and ultimately, how we lead. Sometimes, our perspective serves us well (yay!), and other times, it can hold us back from living at our fullest potential.

What makes the ELI 360 truly unique is that it not only provides a clear, quantifiable blueprint of this lens, but also offers a 360-degree view by incorporating the perspectives of others. By gathering feedback from colleagues, friends, family, and team members, the ELI 360 provides a comprehensive picture of how you’re experienced by the people around you.

Through this multi-perspective lens, clients gain powerful insights into their leadership style, their energetic impact, and how their actions align (or don’t) with how they desire to show up in the world. And by working with an iPEC coach, these insights can be translated into tangible actions that lead to lasting transformation—just as thousands of individuals around the world have already experienced.

What's the difference between the ELI 360 and the (standard) self-assessments?

iPEC offers two main types of ELI assessments—the ELI self-assessment (which includes the Group and Milestone assessment variations) and the ELI 360. While the core intention of both is to create more self-awareness in a person’s life, the approach they take is a little different.

The ELI self-assessment is exactly what it sounds like—an assessment of the self, based on an unbelievably in-depth 20-30 minute online survey.  The ELI 360 takes this a step further by combining the powerful insights from the ELI self-assessment survey with feedback from multiple outside perspectives—the client’s chosen raters—who evaluate them on a set of 36 leadership competencies.

This holistic, multi-perspective view of how a person’s energy and leadership are perceived by those around them offers a comprehensive “360-degree” view of a client's energy. In addition to clients gaining a deeper understanding of their unique energetic makeup, they will also uncover how their self-perceptions align or differ from the perceptions of those around them (which can reveal discrepancies, blind spots, or even strengths that may not have been fully realized!)

In short:

  • ELI self-assessment: A reflection of the client’s energy and current leadership potential.

  • ELI 360: A comprehensive, multi-perspective view that blends the energetic insights from the ELI self-assessment with feedback from others, offering a richer, more complete understanding of the client’s leadership style, energetic impact, and opportunities for growth.

There is truly nothing in the world like the ELI 360! This powerful tool is perfect for clients who want to leverage feedback from others to deepen their self-awareness and use those insights to make more conscious choices in their behavior and interactions with others. (The results will give you plenty to work with in client coaching sessions!)

When and How to Use the ELI 360 With Your Clients

Whether a client is looking to improve communication, have more fulfilling relationships, or gain clarity on how to step into a leadership role, the ELI 360 offers valuable, multi-perspective feedback that can guide them forward. This makes it an excellent tool for a wide variety of clients, no matter where they are in their personal or professional journey.

Many coaches find it beneficial to start with the ELI 360 early in the coaching relationship. The results can spark important conversations about the client’s strengths, blind spots, and areas for growth, setting the stage for impactful coaching sessions ahead. It’s also a great way to establish a baseline for where the client’s energy is at and how they want to show up in the world.

When should I use the ELI 360 instead of the standard ELI self-assessment?

A good rule of thumb is to have a conversation with your client about their goals and preferences. If they want a deeper, more comprehensive view of their energy and how it’s experienced by others, the ELI 360 could be the best choice.

However, it’s also important to recognize that some clients may not feel open or ready to receive feedback from others right away. While you can coach them through this, if a client expresses hesitancy or feels uncomfortable with external perspectives, the ELI self-assessment may be a better fit.

Also, if they prefer to start with a more self-reflective process, the ELI self-assessment will be more appropriate. The decision ultimately depends on the client’s readiness and the direction they want to take in their coaching journey. (Open-ended, empowering questions will go a long way in helping them choose!)

Different Ways to Use (and Price!) the ELI 360 in Your Business

The beauty of the ELI 360 is its versatility—there are many creative ways you can use it to meet your clients’ needs and align it with your business goals! Whether you're working with individuals, teams, or organizations, you can experiment with different structures and pricing strategies to find what works best for you.

Number icon yellow 1Standalone ELI 360

Offering the ELI 360 as a standalone service is a powerful way to introduce potential clients to the Energy Leadership® framework. It gives them a clear, focused experience where they can dive deep into their energy levels and leadership potential while also getting a taste of what it would be like to work with you in an ongoing coaching relationship.

What makes this approach particularly effective is that it gives clients a sneak peek into the kind of transformation they could experience in a longer-term coaching package. Many coaches use the standalone ELI debrief session as a way to sell clients into bigger, longer-term coaching packages. After seeing the insights they can gain from just one session, clients are often eager to continue working with you to explore these areas more deeply and make lasting changes in their lives. It’s a perfect stepping stone to build trust, demonstrate the value of coaching, and set the stage for a more in-depth coaching experience.

While you can certainly price the standalone ELI 360 at a premium to reflect its value and the deep insights it offers, another strategy that can also work well is to price it lower, making it more accessible to more potential clients. Because the ELI can be a relatively low-risk investment, it’s an easy way to get your foot in the door with lots of new clients. Once they experience the value of the ELI, they’ll be more likely to say yes to a full coaching package that can help them continue the work they’ve started.

Kickoff for Coaching Packages

Another popular approach is using the ELI 360 as a kickoff for a coaching package. The key difference here is that the ELI 360 is included in the coaching package, making it a truly premium experience. If you’re offering the ELI 360 as part of a larger package, it’s important to reflect that value in your pricing (make sure the pricing feels aligned with the depth and personalization you’re offering).

The ELI 360 is a powerful tool, and when bundled with ongoing coaching, it offers clients a comprehensive and transformative experience right from the start.

Corporate Group Debriefs and Workshops

An For corporate clients or teams, the process can begin with participants taking the ELI 360 assessment, followed by a group debrief to discuss the results. After the initial debrief, you can offer workshops that focus on specific competencies, such as leading and presenting yourself authentically, boosting the energy of others around you, facilitating effective meetings, and more.

With 36 competencies to explore, there’s plenty of flexibility to address what matters most to the group! For example, if a company is undergoing significant change, a workshop that focuses on improving adaptability could help team members understand how they’re showing up during times of transition and provide them with strategies to thrive in that environment.

👉 Pro tip: If you plan to offer ongoing workshops or a series of group coaching sessions after the group debrief, you can create an ongoing retainer pricing model. In this case, clients can pay a flat rate for a set number of workshops that include the ELI 360, a group debrief, and follow-up workshops for the team or organization.

What iPEC Coaches are Saying About the ELI and the ELI 360

We recently reached out to our iPEC coaches to get their thoughts on the impact of the ELI and the ELI 360 in their business—the results were incredible! Here’s what some of our coaches had to say:

"After doing an ELI 360, my client saw how critical they were of themselves and their abilities. What followed was an increased confidence, almost immediately.

"I've grown my [coaching] program from only 3-5 clients per group, to 14-15 per group in the last few years and the ELI assessment has a big part in that. I always receive the feedback that it's everyone's favorite part of the program.

"I had a 1:1 client who then referred me to her boss and now I have an organizational contract to do group sessions and 1:1 sessions with additional clients.

"Along with ELDS and CORE® Dynamics, the ELI sets me apart as a coach. I landed a gig with a bar organization last year (which will be renewable if all goes as planned) because a client of mine was on the planning committee and preached about the difference Energy Leadership® has made in her own life, success, and launching her own law firm."
